Engaged Encounter Weekend - An international program of the Catholic Church dedicated to preparing couples for the sacrament of marriage. Locations: Tallahassee (Nov. 14-16); Pensacola (Oct. 17-19). This weekend experience offers couples a unique opportunity to discover a deeper appreciation of their relationship and God's call to unite them in a permanent union. High school artists invited to design Christmas art for Florida Catholic: Deadline for submissions: Nov. 10. In preparation for our Christmas edition, the Florida Catholic seeks high school artists to design artwork for the Christmas print issue of the Florida Catholic. This year, the Florida Catholic is asking artists to base their artwork on the Bible quote Luke 2:10-19. Designs should be original, in a medium of the artist’s choice and drawn on an 8.5” X 11” (or larger) piece of sturdy-white paper. Mount artwork on art board with no frame. Protective paper covering is suggested. Please note — PhotoShop enhancements of famous artist’s work will not be accepted. All art must be an original drawing by the high-school student. The Florida Catholic is a faith-based newspaper, so artists are asked to stay within appropriate themes. Winning artists will receive a $50 gift credit card. Selected artwork will be displayed online at www.thefloridacatholic.org for public viewing the first week in December. Winning entries will be featured inside the print edition of the newspaper, Dec. 19. Submissions should be labeled with artists’ name, address, e-mail address, phone number, school and parish and mailed or delivered to: Florida Catholic, Attn: Mary St. Pierre, 50 E. Mind, Body & Spirit Employee Health Fair: All Pensacola area employees of the Catholic Church are invited to participate on Friday, October 10 at Sacred Heart School.  Vendors, speakers and activities are available from 8:30 am until 1:00 pm.  Health Risk Assessments including blood glucose screenings, blood pressure and cholestrol screenings are free for all employees but registration is necessary. Everyone who participates in the screenings will be eligible for door prize drawings.  Prizes include a Mountain Bike, $50 gift cards from Running Wild and Citgo gas, $20 gift cards from Rave movie theaters and $25 gift card from Everman's.  Please contact Dawn Gagnon (435-3506 or gagnond@ptdiocese.org) to reserve a time for screening.

Dishes! The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has over 400 cases of all types of dishes and glassware that came from a restaurant supply house that is no longer in business. They are for sale for $.50 per item or less. The sale is by the case only. Each case contains between 24-36 items. The brands are mostly Libbey and Syracuse. Pensacola Catholic High School Visitation Days for current 8th grade students interested in attending CHS for the 2009-2010 academic year. Visiting 8th graders will be given the opportunity to tour Catholic High, visit classes, meet teachers and students, and receive information about CHS at a program presented by CHS students, faculty, and administration. "St. Paul the Missonary of the World" is the topic of Msgr. St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church is looking for volunteers to work with adults learning English as a Second Language (ESL), as well as those willing to provide childcare for parents taking ESL classes.  Never taught an ESL class before?  Don't worry; training will be provided. The 50th Anniversary of John the Evangelist School in Panama City is coming up!  Former students, families and teachers are needed to help the school celebrate this big event. 10 Great Dates! This is a ten session marriage enrichment experience that unabashedly admits to being fun as well.  These events will be limited to the first 25 couples who register. Forrest and August Yanke will facilitate the start of each event.
• Started Thursday, Sept. 11, 6-8 p.m. and continues on the second Thursday of each month for a total of 10 sessions.  The final session is on June 11.
• Meet in the Media Center of St. John Parish School, Panama City with like minded couples for a facilitated group marriage fitness session before setting out on your date.
• 10 Great Dates is open to members of St. John’s and all other parishes - first come – first served basis. Great for newlyweds, empty nesters and especially parents!

• Limited openings for childcare (4 years and up) will be available by pre-registration. The cost will be $10 per child for each event payable at time of service.
